Community Action Priorities

  • Create a community resource brochure and support group
  • Train local government staff, law enforcement/first responders, health care providers on dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
  • Offer Dementia Friends Information Sessions and education to community and family caregivers

About our ACT Community

The Cambridge ACTion Team formed in 2013 with representatives from various walks of community life. The team includes an Isanti county commissioner, a city planner, a parish nurse and representatives from veteran’s services, family services, sheriff’s department, Cambridge Medical Center, Cambridge mayor’s office, Visiting Angels, Family Pathways, Anoka Ramsey Community College, Senior Activity Center, East Central Senior Resource Center, Heartland Express, Allina Community Ambulance Service, GracePointe Crossing, Haven House, and St. Croix Hospice.

Snapshot of Activities

  • Raising awareness about dementia in the community with a monthly article in the local newspaper, Dementia Friends Information Sessions, hosting book club discussions and support groups, and having tables at local events.
  • Providing age-appropriate books to media centers for intermediate school age children.
  • Provided four Project Lifesaver scholarships to Isanti County Sheriff’s Department to help people who wander from home to be quickly located.
  • Provided information about ACT efforts to groups from Boston, New York, North Carolina, Canada, Indiana and more.
  • Provide “Aging Experiences” to help people understand how someone with memory issues may see, hear or feel.
