SECTOR GUIDE
Libraries
Libraries are respected community institutions that can provide access to resources, services, and programs for people living with dementia and their care partners.
Key Ideas
As neutral and welcoming facilities that exist in many communities, libraries can have a significant role in building social capital and making your community friendly to those living with dementia and their families.
Some of the ways in which libraries can lead the way include offering dementia-related titles, provide dementia awareness training for staff, hosting educational sessions for the public, provide arts programs, reading groups, etc.; provide assistive technologies for patrons and creating dementia friendly environments.
