Stillwater ACT on Alzheimer's

Updated 2021 | Status: Active

About our Action Community

Stillwater Area ACT on Alzheimer’s was formed in 2014 with leadership from FamilyMeans, a Stillwater-based social services agency. The Action Team is comprised of community members, nonprofit service providers and health care professionals as well as representatives from faith communities, senior residential settings, and businesses.

Our key work has been to raise awareness and reduce stigma about dementia, ensure that families living with dementia have expert guidance available to them, and train employees from area businesses on dementia-friendly principles. We've also hosted virtual dementia tours, held film screening discussions, and advised Washington County Libraries' creation of Memory Minder Kits.

Many new services and resources have developed since our team formed. We are now exploring how to refresh our community assessment in order to target future efforts toward what is most needed. New priorities will also require re-engaged and additional participants to energize our work.

Snapshot of Recent Activities

Throughout the pandemic, we have met bi-monthly to share resources and discuss community trends related to dementia.|We are seeking ways to re-assess the community's needs so that we can move forward on the most relevant actions.|We stay in tune with neighboring ACT communities (Roseville, Woodbury) so that we can support and complement each other's work.
