St. Paul Neighborhoods ACT (SPN ACT)

St. Paul Neighborhood Coalition“My husband, Dave who is a Dementia Friend, was waiting at Great Clips to get his hair cut last fall. He was sitting by an older woman whose husband was having his hair cut. They began talking and she told him that her husband had dementia, and how hard it was caring for him. Dave agreed to send her some information, which he did. Last week, she emailed Dave to say her husband passed away. She thanked Dave for his friendship and kindness. She encouraged him to keep doing what he was doing, and said that she would pay it forward.”

Snapshot of Activities

Distributed more than 6,000 SPN ACT bookmarks and brochures around our community.

Trained more than 100 Dementia Champions, who in turn have helped more than 1,250 people of all ages become Dementia Friends.

In March 2015, SPN ACT celebrated two years of ACTing on Alzheimer’s with over 70 attendees from diverse sectors of our community. We recognized our team’s efforts to bring the community together to help make St. Paul dementia friendly, but also recognized that our work has only just begun and called our broader community to action.
